Although better known for his commercial brand his voice and his hard gravels, its looks of bukowski-esque of Charles, the Expectations of Tom put its most of the remarkable traits to work for him as a musician, but also as a presence in the film.

As an actor, it took the parties of little and the cameos, just like the contributed music to the sonorous bands, since the 'the years 70 to the television (it appeared as itself on "Saturday in the evening Lives," among a lot of other spectacles during this decade). His music was presented in the film since 1980, when his song "An Invitation to the Blues" was used as the introduction to Nicholas Roeg the drama time jumping "the Bad Moment".

It had a number of small roles, of ordinary one as the pillars of bar and as not er does bienae”il plays even an owner of drunken bar in the (terrible) 1981 "Wolfen" of film of wolf garou. But this was not until it met in top with Francis Ford Coppola that it began appearing uniformly. Compose the music for Coppola is lost it classical then rediscover, "the One of the Heart," it put at last his film music in the movie. It appeared briefly in first Coppola 'the year films 80, including "the One of the Heart," "The Foreign ones," and the monochrome, the classic of worship of street band "the Fish of Rumble". It appeared also in "The Club of Cotton," another picture of Coppola.

While these all was the little roles with the a steamships and the funny mockeries, it gave exposition to Expectations in the world of independent film. It began soon to appear in Jim Jarmusch the first films, including "down below By Law" and the ready one of his voice as the DJ in "the Train of Mystery".

These cemented his picture as a presence of film of indy, although it took more commercial roles also, as in 1990 "The Two Jakes," 1991 "The King of Fisherman" and 1999 "the Men of Mystery". These all was brief but comical roles and surely a pleasure to play.

While Tom Awaits bills sold well by all this time, it always had juicy roles that were careful not to spend him any sound time that visits. In Coppola "Dracula," it played the servant of the infamous crazy vampire, an idiot that wipes nibbling. In "the Short Cuts," it had a substantial role, playing a drunken boor in a painful marriage that did not win him just the recognition, but the acclamation for his interim capacity.
