Gautham Vasudev Menon is return with a straight film of the heart. The director, that believes in the significant movie, tries to push the film envelope with Vaaranam Aayiram. The film clearly is meant for the niche audiences, and not for the mass view. It is a tribut to the dad of the director, that passed far the last year. The treatment and the narration are purely autobiographical with most of it take true incidents of life laces up with film liberties.

The film opens with a Surya of officer of the army of earth that receives the new ones of the death of his dad while on a mission.
